Charlotte natives will surely remember Eastland Mall, which opened on Central Avenue in the mid 70’s and at the time was the state’s largest mall. After a successful run through the 90s, the mall closed in 2010 and was later demolished in 2013.
Developer Crosland Southeast is overseeing the redevelopment of the 69-acre site, now called Eastland Yards, with plans to include residential, office, retail, hotel, sports and/or community facilities.
The residential section of Eastland Yards will include apartments, single-family homes and townhomes; Saussy Burbank has been named the exclusive builder of the latter two in the section Central Village at Eastland Yards. Phases 1 & 2 will include 21 single-family lots and 17 townhome sites. Located in east Charlotte, Eastland Yards is convenient to Midwood, highways 24, 27 & 74, and uptown Charlotte.
