Saussy Burbank Butterfly Garden Cottage at Kiawah River Awarded BALA by NAHB

We’re thrilled to share The Butterfly Garden Cottage has been selected for a “2019 Best in American Living Award” by The National Association of Home Builders Design Committee.

Built by Saussy Burbank and designed by architect Starr Sanford Design Associates, with interiors by McLaurin Parker, this home is designed to celebrate traditional southern indoor-outdoor living.

“My inspiration behind Kiawah River’s Butterfly Garden Cottages and Sublime Original is rooted in the history of the land and a passion for living on the water,” Starr Sanford told The Post & Courier. “The cottages’ oversized windows, generous porches and tall ceilings reflect the gracious southern proportions of my favorite historic homes.”

Just 15 miles from the Charleston peninsula, Kiawah River is a new waterfront community where the finest land planners, architects, engineers, and builders have come together to create a new story for the Charleston sea islands.
